Pediatric Trauma

A subset of orthopedic trauma dealing with the unique problems seen in the bones, joints, and soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments) in the growing body following trauma. The main goal of this specialized area in orthopedics is healing the fractured bones, and restoring the anatomic alignment of the joint surfaces with special attention to the growth areas of the bone.

  • Growth plate fractures

  • Greenstick fractures

  • Torus fracture ("buckle fracture")

  • Supracondylar humerus fracture

  • Slipped capital femoral epiphysis

  • Osgood Schlatter disease

  • Calcaneal apophysitis
