Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD)
Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) is progressive deterioration of the cartilage covering the bones that make up the ball (femoral head) and socket (acetabulum) of the hip joint.
Avascular Necrosis (AVN)
Avascular Necrosis (AVN), is a condition that affects the ball portion of the hip joint when there is a lack of blood flow to the bone. Lack of blood flow can cause the bone to die which can cause severe pain and even lead to collapse of the ball portion of the hip joint.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis is an inflammatory condition in the ball and socket hip joint that causes gradual erosion of the cartilage in the hip joint. Typically, several other joints in the body can be affected.
Postraumatic Arthrosis
Postraumatic Arthrosis is a premature form of DJD which results from a severe trauma. Typically, results from a fracture into the ball and socket hip joint or from previous dislocations of the hip joint that can cause accelerated damage to the cartilage surface of the ball and socket joints.
