Medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow)

Repetitive overuse injury of the tendon attaching the forearm muscles to the inside of the elbow joint. Gripping, flexion of the wrist or fingers, and rotation of the forearm against resistance can be very painful.

Treatment

Treatment initially is nonsurgical or conservative and includes anti-inflammatory medications, steroid injections, elbow strap, physical therapy, and avoiding painful activities.

Surgery

Surgery is reserved for resistant cases that do not respond to conservative treatment and involves removing the damaged tissue to improve blood flow to stimulate new healthy tissue.
